Mowing your lawn regularly and properly is important to promote a healthy and thick lawn. It will remove any brown damaged tips that can suppress healthy lawn growth. Improper lawn mowing is one of the most common lawn problems, but  is something that can be changed. Here are some pointers to get you started on the path to a beautiful lawn:

Lawn Mowing Tips:

  • Depending on the type of grass you have, the suggested mowing height may differ. Typically, warm season grasses like Bermuda should be cut around a height of ¾ to 1 inch. Generally, you should always cut ⅓ of a grass blade’s height.

  • How often? It is suggested to mow often enough where you don’t have to bag the clippings. Leaving the appropriate amount of grass clippings on your lawn is also known as grasscycling.

  • Every time you mow, you should mow in a different pattern. This promotes grass strength and reduces weed infestation.

  • Make sure your lawn mower’s blades are always sharp! This will keep cuts precise and clean. A dull blade will eat at your grass blades and actually damage them, leaving them more susceptible to lawn diseases.

Start mowing your lawn with these tips, your lawn will need fewer waterings and you’ll thank yourself later. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call us at The Grass Outlet!
