Is Your Lawn Turning Brown?

February 27, 2018 | Lawn Care, posted by Sasha

When something begins to ruin your beautiful lawn it can be quite frustrating. All the time that is spent to water, mow, and keep our lawns looking great feels wasted if our grass doesn’t remain green. Every person takes care of their lawn in their own way, which makes it harder to identify the one thing that ruins a lawn.

Here are some things to watch out for that can ruin your lawn and what you can do about them.

Bugs

When the seasons change, they often bring with them new bugs and other nuisances. Bugs that are particularly damaging to your lawns include beetles and grubs. Bug larvae eat grass roots, ultimately causing brown spots around your yard as your grass dies. If you have a large concentration of larvae in your yard then it’s expected that your grass will have these patches.

To prevent this, avoid over watering your yard. Larvae and grubs enjoy overly moist grass, so keep your yard watered at a normal rate.

Over-Fertilizing

Taking care of your yard is essential, and includes fertilization to ensure that it grows healthy. However, over fertilizing it places an excess amount of nitrogen in your yard. This in turn causes your grass to dry out and causes it to die.

Pet Waste

Having pets is an incredible addition to your family. But often times their waste can be a problem. Nitrogen in your dog’s urine harms your grass, and having it concentrated in one area can kill your grass. They do this by drying out the materials they are on. Try to spray water where your pets urinate to stop the grass from drying out.

A Healthy Yard Is Easy To Do With Care

If you follow the instructions above you can ensure that your yard will be healthy for years to come.
